Volvo Xc90 Rear Door Will Not Open

When i got my xc90 the rear door had some issues when it came to opening.

Over time the hoop can become loose and move slightly inwards each time the door is shut. If you child locks are engaged and you cant open it at all then the best way to open it is to cut a hole from inside the car and just reach it and push down on the latch and the door will open manually then while you have the door open take it all apart and fix it. My 04 xc70 hasn t done this for a while but it just started back up and i ve got a long trip tomorrow that i don t want to have to deal with it on. Every time my son wanted to get out he had to wait for one of us to let him out or roll his window down and open his door from the outside.

I ll close the driver s door but the car still thinks it s open. The rear passenger side door in my xc90 had been like this for a few months and it was frustrating the heck out of me. Now it is closed not locked but no matter what i do the handle does not release the door and we can t open it at all. I am sorry but i do not have any pictures of this.

Basically i would grab the handle as if i were about to squeeze it but just before i squeezed the handle i would push the door in slightly and then squeeze. Its pretty simple though. Sure he could have sat on the other side but he s 12 and apparently. We have a volvo xc90 2004 and the rear hatch door became increasingly hard to open recently. To open the door i had to perform what i call the push squeeze pull method. It displays the driver door open message and chimes at me constantly. The mechanism on most cars consists a grab release on the door and a simple metal hop at the bottom of the frame.
